Ektachromes

Before there was Hija, there were the women who showed me how to see.

These are original slides taken by my great-aunt in Colombia during the 1950s and 60s. She captured a Colombia of vibrant textures, slow rhythms, and enduring beauty — the same elements I seek to preserve today through our artisan partnerships.

Nobody in the family knew Aunt Matilde had such a passion for photography. After she passed, we found a carefully organized and labeled box of slides she had taken through the years. She had a deep love for flowers, and her rose garden was one of her favorite subjects. She lived in the Boyacá region — a mountainous landscape she also loved to document — and through her lens we can see its rolling terrain, its farmers, and the faces of local town life.
